The Buyer’s Journey

My Experience with purchasing an industrial espresso machine

What product or service did you choose?

A used Industrial Brasilia Espresso machine

  • When did you purchase this?

A few months ago

  • Did you purchase this in-person or online?

Both- offer up- picked it up in person

  • How much did you spend?

$600

  • How long had you been planning to make a purchase?

A year

  • When did you first start thinking about the purchase?

2 to 3 years ago

  • Was there a particular problem you were hoping to solve?

I wanted an upgrade in quality to my espresso drinks and more practice, maybe even use it in my shop one day

  • How did you become aware of your problem?

My current machine was small and couldn’t handle stress, was very slow

  • How urgent and important was the problem you were hoping to solve? How much pain was the problem causing you prior to your purchase?

Not very urgent

  • Once you knew you had a problem you wanted to solve, what was your first step? Did you ask other people? Did you hit Google? How and where did you turn to information about your problem and potential solutions?

I searched on google and other restaurant/ coffee stores online. At some point my dad helped me out and came across the Espresso Machine used by a restaurant/ bakery on offer up.

  • Did you uncover multiple different potential solutions to your problem? If yes, why did you choose one over the other?

From what I remember, this option seemed to make the most sense for me at the time because of the price for the size and quality of the product. We previously considered newer espresso machines but what was in our price range did not meet our standard of quality.

  • What were you hoping the solution you purchased could help you accomplish? How did you feel about your purchase prior to making it?

I was hoping to first be able to make drinks at home better and faster for larger groups of people. Then maybe one day to use it in my business if possible. I felt intimidated and uncertain if the product was true to as it appeared.

  • Did you have a budget in mind before you discovered solutions?

Somewhere between $400-1,200

  • Did you budget change after you identified potential solutions?

No

  • How much time elapsed between identifying the solution you purchase and you completing your purchase?

Several months- mostly because the seller was inconsistent with communication.

  • Did you consult anyone else before making a purchase? If so, who?

Just my parents

  • Did you read customer reviews prior to purchasing?

Yes

  • What finally convinced you to complete your purchase? Was there any specific piece of information, customer review, conversation, or event that helped you to make up your mind?

The idea that it was a true industrial machine and price. Although it was dirty and used it

  • Did you stay within your budget?

yes

  • How did the purchase make you feel?

Uncertain yet excited

  • Did the solution work? Did the purchase solve the problem you set out to solve?

Not yet... I haven’t connected the water and electrical systems yet.

  • How did the solution make you feel?

We have yet to find out.

  • Would you recommend the product/solution to other people? Why or why not?

Yes, if you are planning on making drinks for a lot of people in a stationary space. No if you are new to coffee and plan to travel a lot.

  • Are you better off, worse off, or the same since your purchase?

At this point the same because I haven’t been able to test it out yet.

  • Was the purchase worth it?

Yes, because no matter how you look at it, I took a risk for my dream.
